Start with the assortment

List every piece, bar, inner wrap, card and layer that will sit inside the final box. Record the quantity, dimensions and preferred arrangement. The outer box should follow the real assortment rather than the other way around.

Clarify material and contact requirements

Before final materials are agreed, the buyer should clarify which packaging layers directly contact food, what barrier or material requirements apply and which destination market is relevant. Packaging needs vary by product and market, so this should be part of the project brief rather than an assumption.

Plan the tray and reveal

Paperboard trays, dividers and compartment layouts can organize individual pieces and help shape the opening experience. Decide whether recipients should see the entire assortment immediately, discover layers, or receive a message card before the product.

Reserve artwork and information space

Gift packaging can include a premium wrap, interior message and finish details while still needing enough suitable space for the brand’s required product information. Map the panels before finalizing a structure.

Confirm by sample

Use the sample to check the real assortment layout, access to each piece, tray fit, artwork placement and overall presentation. Review applicable product and market requirements with the responsible brand team before bulk approval.
